This year I have enjoyed maths because it is my favourite subject. My maths teacher is Miss Sixsmith and she is a really good maths teacher because she teachers me things that I want to find out. I have learned heaps of interesting things like Measurement, Fractions, Geometry and much more. A website called IXL has really helped me a lot with my learning. The hardest thing I learned in maths was measurement because I had to measure things like the back court and class rooms. I have learned some new strategies and ways to solve problems out easier.

iDrive this week

This week for iDrive I finished my art from last term. I got to do the black outlining and put some glitter on where ever I wanted. It was easy for me because I did not have to do much. We had to go around the face twice and make the vivid line really thick. I did it with Alexa and Olivia. Today the word that I did was participation because I was talking to the people around me and not ignoring them. I helped them as well. Then we went to the glitter part and put some glue on our art. I put the glue on the lips, the spots and the flower on her head.

My iDrive PMI

PMI about iDrive

Positives: The positive things about iDrive is that we agree to do the same things not just random stuff. The other thing is that we don’t just do the same thing but we talk it through and make it so that we don’t fight over simple things. The things that I like about iDrive is sharing, making things in groups and making things with my friends like doing some art or maybe play a game of cards or something.

Interesting: The thing that was interesting was doing different iDrive sessions and learning new things like how to play knuckle bones and how to play cards and things like that. Sometimes the thing that interests me most is when we all work together and don’t fight.

Minuses: The minuses about iDrive are when we don’t agree on what is happening and we all fight. The other thing was when people don’t share. There is some things that I don’t like about iDrive and that is: doing things that I don’t want to do and people telling what to do and what not to do and having to do things that I don’t like and when people don’t give you a turn.

iDrive reflection

This iDrive time I finished my art. What I did for art was faces. They weren't just any old faces they were faces that were colourful and bright and had pattens. My skills were problem solving because when I was letting my art dry I did not know what to do so I ask people if they wanted any help and I helped Ryan because he needed to finish the back ground. The learning power that I used was resilience because when I was painting and wanted to mix a colour but I did not know how to make it so I keeped on trying and trying and I finally made it! When I finished the back ground I did helped him with his body. Then after that we packed up and went to lunch.

Summer's holiday recount

In the holidays I went to do my calf. Her name is Flicka. I did some leading and some brushing and we also did some washing because Flickas legs were muddy. I went out with Ella and some other people. When Flicka was leading she keeped on sitting down where the circle was. When she was getting washed she did not kick and we also put some white off on her. White off is for there white spots to keep them white. We had trouble trying to clean Flickas leg because there was a dirt mark that we can not get off. So we put a lot of white off on her leg and it has made her leg a bit better.

Then a couple days after that I went to my dads house. He lives in Dargaville. Dargaville have a lot of spiders because I is close to a forest. Me and my friend went to the beach while my dad was talking to someone. We sat and ate our lollies on the golden sand and watched people on there drift bikes and on there quads. Then after the beach we went and had dinner at my friends house. We had mince and peas. It was fun at Dargaville!

On the weekend Ella came over and had a sleep over. First we went to Thames and went shopping for food. Then we went and got a BBQ so we can have dinner. After that we went and had a look at the animals in the mall. There were lizards with blue tongues, a cat called Cutie, two turtles, some bunnies, two lambs, a goat, some dogs, mice and a couple of birds. We got to hold the blue tongue lizards and they were very cold. But first we had to put some hand cream on so that the lizards don’t lick your hand and get sick. The lady gave us some things like a cat toy, a balloon and some things for your dogs. Then we went to McDonald's and had something to eat. We went home after that and did some tie dying on a T-shirt. That night we played a game of Monopoly. We did not get to finish it in time so we decided to finish it the next day. The next day we finished Monopoly but I don’t know who won. Then after that we had a bike ride down the street. We took Ella home after that. The weekend was fun!!

Learning In The Making Conference day

Last Friday we had Learning In The Making Conference day. Conference day is a day we normally have once a year on a Friday. You can buy different coloured T-shirts of our house colours. The colours of the T-shirts were yellow, red, blue and green. There were four different breakouts. For the first breakout I did claymations. You had to make something out of playdough then you had to get an I-pad and take pictures of you design. After we took pictures and we put the pictures together and it was like a video.

For the second breakout I did sharpy tie dye. We got a piece of fabric then got a glass cup, put the fabric on the cup and tied a rubber band around the glass cup. Then you get some sharpy pens and do a easy design. After that you get some rubbing alcohol and drip some into the middle so it spread's evenly. Rubbing alcohol you don't drink so please don't try and drink it.

Then for the third break out I did little stitches. We made a badge out of fabric. You got to pick your designs like squares or triangles. Then you got to pick if you wanted to do a jelly stamp. There were a lot of things like owls and arrows. After that you cut out two shapes you like and put a little bit of glue just to make it stick a bit more on the bottom of the fabric. Then you hand stitch around the fabric with thread.

For the last breakout I did cooking. We made lemon honey for your toast and pudding. It has really easy to make. After we had finished making the lemon honey it was really hot and it burned my fingers. We got back early from our break out so we had a little play with a skipping rope on the front court. Then we packed up from our big day. The conference day was lots of fun!

        

iDrive refelction

In iDrive today I did cards with Ella, Alexa and Elizabeth. The games we played were go fish and last card. But there was a little problem, Alexa and Elizabeth wanted to play bull but I did not know how to play. So Elizabeth showed me how to play but I did not get it. We had a little fight. Then someone let them play knuckle bones. The thing that I achieved was problem solving.We solved the problem so Elizabeth and Alexa were playing knuckle bones and me and Ella were playing cards. My skills were playing fear and solving problems that were hard to solve. I won two games and Ella won two games too.

  

Princess Diana

Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris. She has two children, Prince William and Prince Harry. Princess Diana was born in July 1 and the mouth she was born in is 1961. Princess Diana is the youngest person in her family. Diana was married to Prince Charles. They were married for 18 years. Her birth name was Diana Frances Spencer. Diana was married in 1981 but sadly when Diana was about 6 years old  when her parents had a fight. She liked helping others when they were in trouble. Princess Diana grew up in a place called Park House. When Diana left school she got a part time job as a nanny and a cook.

iDrive refection

This week for iDrive I did play dough. My skills were making it tidy and agreeing of what the other people wanted to do.
We made a magical zoo with a seal, tiger, rabbit's, and a penguin. The play dough was mixed with different colours like blue, green and white. The play dough also smelled nice and it was soft too. There was shapers, forks and knives to cut the play dough. I made a tiger and a hedgehog. Savanah made a penguin. Book I've read this term

This term I've read over two book's instead of one book. The book that I read was called Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye by Geronimo Stilton. It was about Geronimo Stilton going on an adventure with Geronimo's sister Thea. They went looking of the emerald eye and when they went home of there adventure in the plane they found the emerald eye in the sky. I like reading books from Geronimo Stilton. You all should go to the library and try out Geronimo Stilton books. They are good of people who like going on wonderful adventures.  

iDrive reflection

Today it was iDrive time. I was in the graffiti art group. In my group there was Savanah, Scarlett and Anna-Louise. We did graffiti art about pet day and calf club. We got some chalk and drew pet day and calf club in block letters with a border and little animals around it. Then we coloured in the block letters. The animals were sheep, cat, dog, goat and bird. I did cooperation by working together and helping people with drawing the block letters. It took about 30 minutes to do it. My skills that I did were helping people with drawing the pet day and calf club animals.

Problem solving.

I solved a problem today that someone needed help on. I solved that problem by helping someone pick the right dress and the colour and helped them with  decorating the paper person. In my group there was Savanah and Anna-Louise. The skills that I did was make a neat piece of art work and try and make it exciting.      
 

Last term's art refletion

Last term for art the Whetu team did lino cuts with different teachers. We all got to pick or art groups. The art teacher's and art groups are Mrs M was doing flowers, Miss Sixsmith was doing birds, Mrs Barker did houses and Mrs Heaven did Pacifica. This is how we made them. First we looked on the internet to find some pictures of flowers to have a look and trace off. Then we picked our design and drew it nicely on a piece of paper. Then we got a lino cut and pinned it to the lino cut. After that we coloured the back of the paper that we did our design on. The picture came up on our lino cut. Then we got a carver and carved out the pencil lines. You had to put your hand behind the carver so you don't hurt your self. When you have done that you get some ink and put your lino cut on a piece of paper. Then you roll a roller in the ink and roll it on your lino cut. After that you get a piece of paper and put the paper on the lino cut. Then you get a clean roller and roll the roller on the paper so that the sides and edges are covered with ink. Then you take the piece of paper off the lino cut and let it dry. After that you go to the sink and wash your lino cut with a scrub brush. Then you can ether put it out in the sun or blow dry it. After that you can do as many prints as you want. That is how you make a lino cut.










    

My recount about the holidays

In the holidays I went to movies. I got to take a friend from next door. Her name is Bronte. We saw the minion movie. We also got some lollies and a fizzy drink. The movie was really funny and cool. We chose to sit at the back row so we could see clearly. After the movies we went into the warehouse and looked at the clothes, and books. Me and Bronte got to have a bag of lollies each. I got party mix and Bronte got party mix too. Then we went to McDonald's and I had a happy meal and Bronte had a happy meal as well. After we had McDonald's we all had candy floss that was a bright pink colour. It was yummy! Then we went home and had diner. For diner we had home made popcorn chicken. Then after our chicken we watched a movie. The movie was Big Hero 6. Then we went to bed and started talking for a little while. It was really fun.

Term reflection

This term I've enjoyed art and discovery block. I like the group activity's that we sometimes do. For art we are doing tile art and its very, very hard. I have achieved my goal that was to keep my things like writing interesting. Every Thursday we do singing that like doing too. We also do basketball every Monday and Tuesday. I really liked our teacher reading books that I have never read before. Plus some Thursday's we do drama, sport and science. For sport we did tennis. It was really fun!

Next term I'm looking ford to doing art because I wonder what we are going to do. My goal for next term is making sure I get my learning completed in time. I need to improve on getting my learning done in time so I'm not in oh-dear. Next term I would like to try getting more into drama. sport and science. I would like to also try doing some graffiti art and maybe some sketching or pastel art. I would really enjoy doing that!!!

J-Rock

On Tuesday night some school people went to J-Rock in Hamilton and did a big stage challenge. We played games with the other schools like run round the circle. All of us had dinner.We had lasagne, buns with ham and cheese, a bag of carrots, a juice box and a muffin.Then we played some card games. After that we got all our make up on and our clothes and did a practise three times.We then did it in front of the other schools. Finally we did it in front of the crowd and our school got awards for it. We also got to watch the other schools perform and they were really good. We had to wear this itchy scratchy wig that had rainbow colours all over it.We got to party at the start when we all got there.We were singing songs, dancing with the other schools and we were watching some videos.When we went home all of us had to wash our make up off.

Discovery Block

Every Tuesday the Whetu Team does Discovery Block. There are heaps of things to do and make like gardening, Invent to learn, Google drawing, minecraft and fabric. Invent to learn is with Mr Mack and it is about this game. Google drawing is about drawing on line and you make things like people and houses and heaps more. Minecraft is about building houses out of blocks.And fabric is about you make stuff out of fabric and create things.I like discovery block because you get to do fun stuff!  

Mothers Day

On Friday our mothers came to our school and did some activity's with us. But I didn't go to school because I had to go to the hospital to
get my finger checked.For Mothers Day I got my mum a necklace,a note book,pencil,a pen and my mums friend got her some soap and
some shampoo.Also I made my mum a card.She liked all the things that I got her!

The other day the Whetu team made our mums a necklace out of air dry clay. First we cut out a shape and put something in it.
Then we let it dye.

After that we put some Indian ink on it and then we put some water or rubbed a tissue on it to make it lighter.  
Then we let them dry and Mrs Heaven put holes in them.

Then we put some coloured string and threaded it threw the holes and knotted
it. After we wrapped the necklace in paper and made a envelope.Then we said a little message on it and taped it up. It will be posted
some time this week!

My art group

A couple of weeks ago,my art group made some air dry clay flowers.This is how we made them:First we got some paper and drew our
designs on the piece of paper.Then Mrs Heaven brought in some play dough for us to have a play with.Then Mrs Heaven brought in some
air dry clay and we made our first flower shape.After that I made the second flower to go on top,And after that we made the last flower that goes on the top!Then we put some pattens on them and glue them together.After this we let the air dry clay flowers dry.When they had dried we painted them bright colours!That's how you make air dry clay flowers!

War

In the war you can't wear bright clothes because other soldiers can sneak up on you.Also in our days people make ANZAC bikkies and wear poppies to remember the people who died. I've learnt that in the war there was a nurse that helped people that got hurt.The schools
Principal (Neil Fraser) was in the army in South Africa for two years, he was a medic. You have to be Over 18 to be in the war.

Camp

This week I am in Whenua because Whetu is going to camp and I can't go because I broke my finger:( They went to Totara Springs.And they have to stay for 2 nights and 3 days.They do fun activity's like the flying fox
and a hydro slide.They also have hot pools.At night they get to pick there dinner and there desert.After,they have a quiet time like a board game or a cards.Then they've got till 8.30 till 9.00 to go to sleep.Today they are coming back after school and on Thursday they will have a lot of things to tell there family and friends!

The Black Caps

Today at school we are supporting the Black Caps because they won the Cricket Semi-final! I am so happy that they are going through to the Finals because I wanted them to have a chance to succeed in something.So we dressed in black.But I didn't dress in black because I didn't get a notice.

Boil some bright pink lilies.

Roll some rich blueberries in the bucket.

Stir rapidly while adding drops of cool rain.   

Mix the burning hot sun.

Combine winter fruits and vegetables together.

Pour in a field of yellow daffodils swaying in the breeze.

Splash a bit of cherry blossoms in the recipe.

Tip in a bucket of lambs and calves from your farm.

Add some bright rainbow coloured ducklings and chicks.

Pick some new leaves off the tree and plonk them in the bowl.

Boil some ice blocks and put them in the fridge.

Leave it to go cold in winter,let it defrost in summer, and enjoy!

Reading
